Last week, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ezra Chiloba, took 3 weeks leave and informed the country that he will be away during Thursday’s repeat presidential elections.

According to sources close to the IEBC, Mr Chiloba took a “personal decision to be away in order to build confidence among stakeholders” who had complained about the commission’s officials.

But another source said Chiloba was forced to take the leave due to pressure from his wife.
