HERE'S HOW MUCH THE NEW ECO-FRIENDLY SHOPPING BAGS WILL COST YOU AT THE SUPERMARKET ONCE THE BAN TAKES EFFECT
The Retailers Traders Association of Kenya has announced that eco-friendly shopping bags will cost shoppers, atleast Sh3 in Kenyan supermarkets.
The Association said that the new bags will be available beginning Tuesday after the ban commences.
"We want to save the environment for our future, so we support the ban on plastic bags," a statement by the Association read in part.
Participating supermarkets include; Naivas, Mulleys, Tuskys, Chandarana, Nakumatt, Carrefour, Cleanshelf, Saltes, QuickMart, Budget, Uchumi, EastMatt, Choppies and Tumaini.
Business Retrak Director and Naivas Chief Operations Officer Willy Kimani explained that the amount has been subsidized.
