CHAOS ROCK KIAMBU TOWN AS RESIDENTS DEMAND FOR THE ARREST OF BABU OWINO
Kiambu residents on Monday morning took to the streets to call for the arrest of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino over derogatory remarks he made at a rally on Sunday.
Speaking in Kangemi, Babu told the crowd: "If Muammar Gaddafi was removed by citizens, if Laurent Gbagbo was removed by citizens, if Yahya Jammmeh was removed by citizens, who are you? Wewe ni mtoto wa mbwa (You are the son of a dog)."
The remarks are believed to have been directed at President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Babu Owino has since refused to apologize for his comments, stating: "Calling someone mtoto wa mbwa (a puppy) is not an abuse."
Various elected leaders have also come out to call for the arrest of Babu Owino, among them Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa. Mr Ichung'wa on Monday stated: "We will arrest Babu Owino, the people will arrest him. And if no action is taken we will take action."
